I am deeply disturbed by the treatment I received by this company. Although they feel they are a Christian company, no Christian charity was received by this company when I needed it the most. I just returned from a Caribbean cruise and will never go an another Inspiration cruise. A fellow church member and I were to share a room. Before we booked the room, this person indicated she snored if she was on her back but I could wake her up and she would roll over to her side and not snore. She indicated she had a breathing machine but she did not use it because she did not need it and gave me reasons why she did not need it. I told her I was an exceptionally light sleeper and would not be able to sleep if she snored. The first night of our cruise, she was snoring like a freight train and she was on her side. I never slept a wink. The next night, the same thing happened. I reached out to Holland America and they referred me to Kelly of Inspiration. I explained to Kelly that I had not slept for 2 nights and was there anyplace else I could sleep. I asked for a couch, a massage parlor cot, a medical cot, anyplace there I could get at least 4 hours sleep that night. She said the entire ship was full. I knew the snow storm affected people and thought there must be one empty room. Then Kelly said I could take a room that people had left vacant due to the storm but I must return to my room with the snorer the rest of the cruise. I took the room for one night to get a good night's sleep. The next day I asked Kelly was there any way I could get my own room for the remaining 4 nights in order to enjoy my vacation. She said it would be expensive, probably $300 to $400. I said I would gladly pay $300. That night I met with Kelly and she said the owner of Inspiration told her the price would be $500. My thought was where was the $300-$400 stated? The empty room that was available was already paid for by people who were detained by the snow. Even if they had trip insurance and the funds were returned to them, Inspiration would be left with no one paying for that room so wouldn't $300 be better than nothing? Gut greed got the best of the owner and $500 was the price. I told her I had already paid $1300 so another $500 was too much. I indicated I would find a couch, pool cabana cot, or a massage cot but could not go back to the snorer. I asked Kelly if Inspiration was a Christian company, she said yes. I said well they are not very charitable. When I returned to my seat, Christian strangers who were sitting by me at the concert asked how the conversation went with Kelly. I said she wants $500 more and I said no but I would gladly pay $300. These perfect Christian strangers gave me $200 and I gave $300 to Inspiration for my own interior stateroom. That's the true meaning of Christian love. Inspiration failed in my opinion to help out a fellow Christian and exhibited a poor example and nothing but greed. Oh, and when I asked the fellow church member if she could help pay for her portion of her now private room. That was a "no." Thank God for Christian strangers with a giving heart. There are still good people in this world.
